COLOMA
This lower-elevation area south of Auburn, north and east of Folsom Lake has rolling hills, rural properties, and convenient, flat access to the South Fork of the American River. Known as a whitewater rafting paradise, many folks first discover this not-to-remote but rural area while coming for camping and fishing opportunities.
Located between two major highways (50 & 80), the quiet town of Coloma is accessible but pleasantly apart from surrounding urban environments.
Small orchards, ranches, and historic settings predominate. The gold discovery site of Sutter’s Mill is not far away.
The weather is special. Coloma is just above valley floor but like many foothill communities, it is reliably cooled by delta breezes.
