Auburn is familiar to many in the Golden state who travel east on I80 for holiday recreation in the Sierra Nevada mountains. For these vacationers (mostly from the bay area), Auburn is the geographic gateway to the Sierras that they remember. Just past this landmark gold rush town of 13,000 located about 30 miles east of Sacramento is the entire expanse of the mountains including the prize jewel of the entire region, fabulous Lake Tahoe.
Rafting the American River, horse back riding in the American River canyon, hiking, fishing, swimming and every other manner of outdoor activity is immediately available and as convenient to access as is the North Auburn commercial district.
This crossroads community is at the nexus of two important state transportation arteries: highway 80 running east to west, and highway 49 running north to south. This is the perfect location to be both plugged in to the entire mid-state region but still be half-a-world apart living the attractive small town lifestyle.
